    SWIFT Customer Security Programme

The SWIFT Customer Security Programme (CSP) is the global financial community’s dedicated authority on interbank messaging security, operating as a mandatory initiative since its launch in 2016 to provide a unified international response to cyber threats against the financial system. The CSP supports over 11,000 institutions by offering the Customer Security Controls Framework (CSCF), a set of mandatory and advisory technical controls, to reduce the risk of fraudulent transactions and to help make the global payment network the safest place to move value across borders. Acting as the network’s primary defense mechanism, the CSP monitors emerging threat patterns, issues annually updated control versions (such as v2026), coordinates with independent assessors to validate compliance via the KYC Security Attestation (KYC-SA), and serves as the single point of truth for trust between counterparts, ensuring a coordinated and resilient global approach to financial messaging security.
