    NIST CSF Function GV
The Govern (GV) Function is the foundational cross-cutting pillar of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) 2.0, operating as the strategic core since its introduction to provide a unified organizational response to cyber risk. The GV Function supports both executive leadership and technical teams by offering a clear roadmap for policy, oversight, and roles to reduce the gap between business strategy and security operations and to help make the enterprise the safest place to execute its mission. Acting as the framework’s “command and control” center, the GV Function monitors legal and regulatory requirements, issues direction for risk management strategy, coordinates with internal and external stakeholders, and serves as the single point of alignment for all other CSF Functions (Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond, and Recover), ensuring a coordinated and resilient corporate approach to cybersecurity governance.
