NIST CSF Function RC
The Recover (RC) Function is the final restorative pillar of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) 2.0, operating as the “resilience” engine since its inception to provide a unified organizational response to the aftermath of a cyber incident. The RC Function supports both business continuity teams and IT operations by offering a structured approach to system restoration and lessons learned to reduce the duration of downtime and to help make the enterprise the safest place to resume mission-critical services. Acting as the framework’s “reconstruction” center, the RC Function monitors the integrity of restored data, issues updates to the recovery plan based on incident analysis, coordinates with the Respond function to ensure threats are neutralized before restoration, and serves as the single point of transition back to normal operations, ensuring a coordinated and resilient long-term approach to cybersecurity health.
